About Us

Grinnell Christian Church was established in 1954 when a group came from the Madison Church of Christ in Brooklyn, Iowa, to establish a church in Grinnell. From those humble beginnings, GCC has become a thriving outreach to the Grinnell community.

We believe ...

... Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God, who died for our sins and arose from the dead. 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 & John 3:16

... the Bible, God's inspired word, guides all that we say and all that we do. 2 Timothy 3:16 & Psalm 119:105

... every person has worth as a creation of God, but that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

... forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ as Savior and Lord. John 3:16

... baptism, as taught in the Scriptures and practiced since Jesus began the church, is the immersion in water of a repentant believer, symbolizing Christ's own death, burial and resurrection. Romans 6:1-11 & Acts 2:38

... the Church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit and exists to save the lost and edify the saved. Ephesians 4:1-16

... in the weekly sharing of the Lord's Supper (Communion) with those who belong to Jesus Christ. Acts 20:7

John Epperson
SENIOR MINISTER
John has been with us for over 30 years. We are very thankful for John’s long-term commitment to the Grinnell community. He is joined in ministry by his wife, Jan. They have 3 children, Jody, Jason and Janelle; and 4 grandchildren, Syndey, Luke, Lydia and Abe. John loves walking and if you're up early you might catch him walking the streets of Grinnell.

Brian Chitwood
MINISTER OF YOUTH
Brian has been working with our youth for over 18 years. It’s exciting to think about how many young people's lives have been impacted through Brian's ministry. Brian is joined in ministry by his wife Barb and their two sons, Wade and Darrin. In his spare time Brian loves fishing and woodworking.

Dan Toney
MINISTER OF INVOLVEMENT
Dan joined our team in June of 2005. Dan grew up at GCC, so it was a homecoming for him to rejoin this church family. In fact, he is the first Timothy of GCC to return home to minister. Prior to coming home Dan worked in campus ministry for 13 years at Iowa State and Iowa. He is joined in ministry by his wife Holly and their two children, Caleb and Olivia. In his spare time Dan enjoys coaching his kid's sports teams, fishing and hunting.

Andre Norman
CHILDREN'S MINISTER
Andre joined our team in June of 2006 after ministering for several years at a church in Malvern, Ohio. Andre's passion for children is quickly evident and we are excited to see how God is going to use Andre here at GCC. Andre is joined in ministry by his wife Audra and his daughter, Avery. In his spare time Andre loves to play sports of all sorts.
