Children
Children are an important part of everything we do here at GCC. We have a desire to see your children grow in their relationship to Christ in a fun and exciting setting. We want to see our children develop a strong foundation of faith and we have several programs to help make this happen.
Ongoing Programs:
Sunday School
We have classes for every age group from baby on up. In fact, most grades have 2 classes. We place a strong emphasis on our Sunday
School program and it shows. We think our kids deserve the best. Our teachers strive to provide interesting and exciting lessons as they study God’s word. Sunday
School meets in between the two worship services from 9:15-10:15 a.m.
Children’s Church
For our younger children ages 4 to 4th grade we provide a separate worship time during our 10:30 worship service. It’s a time for these children to worship God in their own way. The kids have a great time while coming into God’s presence.
Parent/Toddler Play Time
Every Wednesday from 11:00 to 1:30. Moms, bring your kids who aren’t in
school yet for a time of fun with other kids. It usually meets in the
church gym. There is also a short lesson time for the kids and a
devotion time for the mothers.
School Year Programs:
Prime Time Basketball League
We offer leagues for both boys and girls from 1st-6th grade. Our leagues are a great way to improve basketball skills and at the same time grow in your relationship to Christ. Some unique aspects of the league include half-time devotions during the games, scripture memorization to help earn points, and weekly awards for the kids. We try to create a fun and exciting atmosphere for the kids.
The 2009 season begins January 17th with Evaluation for 1st & 2nd grade
boys at 10:30 a.m., 1st-3rd grade girls at 11:30 a.m. Registrations
may be picked up in the church office and should be returned to Andre by
January 15th.
Impact
Impact is our Sunday evening youth program for ages 2 thru 6th grade. Fun is the key word here. Your kids will have a blast while learning about Jesus. Make sure that you get an IMPACT schedule because groups will have many special activities. IMPACT meets from 6-7pm every Sunday night except the last Sunday night of each month, which is set aside for family night.
The class breakdown is as follows:
Investigators - 2s & 3s
Mountain Moving Bear Cubs - 4s & Ks
Praise Pals - 1st & 2nd
Active Adventurers - 3rd & 4th
Crusaders - 5th & 6th Club 252
This is an after school program that is run one day a week for students in
kindergarten through 4th grade. This is an opportunity for the kids to meet with their friends and have fun with games, crafts, activities, lessons, videos, and a snack. Club 252 gets its name from the verse in Luke that says, “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” We have fun learning to grow as Jesus grew. There
is a fall session that runs from October-December and a winter/spring session that runs from February-May.
Fish Tank
5th & 6th grade students meet at the church on early out school days starting in October for a fun time of discovering how they can become more like Jesus. Students learn how they can form HABITS that will help them grow in their walk with Christ on their own. Highlights include games, snacks, competitions, Bible memorization, trips, and time to just hang out with friends.
Sonshine Singers
1st-6th Graders have fun singing in our youth choir. The Sonshine Singers perform various Sunday mornings in the Fall and Spring.
Summer Programs:
Vacation Bible School
Every summer just after school gets out join hundreds of other kids for our VBS program. You will be amazed at the excitement that surrounds Grinnell Christian Church during this time. Get your summer started off on the right foot. Come to VBS and bring a friend!
Wild & Wacky Wednesdays
GCC is the place to be on Wednesdays in the summer. Kindergarten-6th Graders enjoy some of the craziest games that you will ever play. “Wild & Wacky” is highlighted by wacky games, relevant lessons, delicious lunches, and fun trips.
Events in the past included trips to Chuck E. Cheese, the Blank Park Zoo, and an Iowa Cubs game.
Summer Camp
Every summer our church camp, Central Iowa Bible Camp, is the place to be for fun in the great outdoors. We encourage all of our youth to
take time out of their summer and spend a week with friends and God. Camp is a great place to get away from the world and connect with God. CIBC does a great job of making learning about God the best time of the summer.
The church has scholarships available by contacting the church office.
