Board of Elders

Mike Anderson and his wife Saundy have been married for 30 years. They have two grown sons, Jason and J.T. Jason is married to Yoly and they have two sons, A.J. and Mike. J.T. is married to Tara and they have a son, Jackson. His family also included Kellie and Brett McGriff and their two sons, Zach and Cole and Lisa and Mark Buchenhagen.

Mike is employed by Iowa Telecom, and is responsible for Iowa Telecom Regulatory, Legislative and Corporate Communications and Marketing Functions. Mike enjoys team sports, golf, and reading. He has been a Teacher and Elder at GCC for many years.

Danny Carroll has lived in Grinnell since marrying Joy in 1975. They have raised 3 children, Curtis, his wife Sarah and their daughter Miriam live in Ankeny. Joni lives in Des Moines and Danae is in college at Milligan College in Tennessee. They have owned and operated Carroll’s Pumpkin Farm since 1991. Danny works as Director of Community Relations for Iowa Telecom and also is serving his sixth term as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives. He enjoys working around the pumpkin farm and spending time with his family. Joy and he also enjoy riding motorcycles on long trips during the summer months. Danny has served as an elder for many years. He teaches Sunday School at GCC which has been their source of support and meaning since moving to Grinnell.

Ken Crandall has been married to his wife Edna for 44 years. They have two grown children. He has been a self employed carpenter for 25 years. He likes traveling, and attending southern Gospel Music Concerts. He is presently the Building and Grounds Chairman and has served as an elder for many years.

Tom Dillman and his wife Dawn, have been members since 1983 when they moved to Grinnell. They have farmed together since their marriage and have three children, Amy, Matt and Amber. They have added a daughter in law, Heather in October 05. Tom has taught Sunday School and served as Elder for many years. He is Chairman of the Finance Committee. He has also served on the local school board. Much of his leisure time is spent with his family and their activities and flying.

Merle Doty and Gloria have been married for 40 years. They have 5 grown children, Matt, Mark, Mike, Susie, Kristie and 9 grandchildren. Merle is a retired Veterinarian after 30 years and now farms with one son. Merle is an avid sports fan, especially the Cyclones. He has attended G.C.C. since 1971 and been an elder for 25 years.

John Green has been married to his wife Lucy for 45 years. They have five children, four girls and one boy. They live in Iowa, Indiana and Colorado. They have sixteen grandchildren which they enjoy visiting. John enjoys fishing with his grandchildren, gardening, planting flowers and feeding and watching birds. John has been very active at G.C.C. and an Elder for more than twenty years.

Mark Hendrickson, age 52, has farmed for 33 years on a century farm in northern Poweshiek County. He raises corn, soybeans and specialty soybeans with son Ryan. He is married to Nancy (GCC church treasurer and part time secretary). They have four children. Kelly (married to Scott) Robinson missionaries with Pioneer Bible Translators in Papua New Guinea. They have one son, Nathaniel Scott Born in March 2006. Jamie (married to Scott) Durr. Scott works with Natural Products International and Jamie is a stay at home mom. They have 4 children, Levi, Ellie, Justin and Ian. Ryan is their son and farms with Mark. Laura has been a ESL teacher at Moscow Evangelical Christian Seminary in Moscow, Russia and is now living in Grinnell. Mark has been an elder since 1994 and was a deacon for 15 years prior to that. He teaches adult Sunday school classes and is the Chairman of the Outreach Ministry. He also leads worship once a month. Mark and Nancy enjoy RVing, spending time with their children and grandchildren and attending ISU games.

Ray Lang has been married 34 years to his wife Phyllis. They have three grown children: Brian, Rebecca and Bradley. They have two grandchildren. Ray is the general manager of Natural Products, Inc. a soy foods plant in Grinnell. He is a licensed firearms dealer, enjoys motorcycles and is a Harley rider. He helps teach adult Sunday School and has recently been elected an elder.

Randy Lidtka and his wife Janet have been married since 1979. They have four children, Katie newly married to Dustin Cummings, Nicolle, Kyle and Bryce. Randy is a diversified farmer 7 miles north of Grinnell. He enjoys reading, traveling, camping and spending time with his family. He and Janet have taught children’s Sunday School at GCC for 20+ years. Randy has recently been added to the Eldership.

Terry Lowry and his wife Linda have been married since 1976. They have two grown sons, Brian (married to Carrie) and Jason. They all live at rural Searsboro and attend G.C.C. Brian & Carrie are school teachers and Jason is a surveyor/designer for Jasper Country Road Dept. in Newton. Terry is a grain and livestock farmer along with his brother, Gary for 31 years. He and Linda have taught Sunday School at GCC for many years. He has been an Elder for 4 years. Terry and Linda enjoy their family, short vacations, flowers and gardening and woodworking. Terry is interested in Civil War history.

Jack Morrison is married 31 years to Jackie. They have 3 daughters, Sara (lives in Sergeant Bluff). She has two sons, Jordan and Ethan. Meagan (lives in Lincoln, NE) and has one son, Johnny. He has attended GCC for 32 years, has been an elder for 12 + years and was Building and Ground Chairman for 10 years. He is the Director of Plant Operations at the Mayflower Homes, Inc. in Grinnell. He has worked at Mayflower for 22 years. He enjoys playing with his grandsons, golfing, fishing, hunting and weight lifting.

Ed Poush and his wife Sharon have been married for 28 years. They have four children, Matt, Mike (wife Misty), Jenny and Seth. Ed is the Associate Director of Mayflower home since 1988. He has been an Elder for several years and occasionally teaches adult Sunday school class. Ed enjoys cooking, music, reading and gardening.

Dave Vander Linden has been married to his wife Sue for 28 years. They lived in Lynnville for 26 years before moving to Grinnell 2 years ago. They have attended GCC for almost 5 years. He teaches adult Sunday School and enjoys being part of the GCC family. They have 2 grown daughters. Abby is married to Marcus and they live in Ankeny. Sarah lives in Wheaton, Il where she works for Pioneer Clubs. She was married to Daniel Zagami on Nov. 4th, 2006. Dave founded Vander Linden Construction, Inc in 1977 and continues to manage and work there. When he has time Dave enjoys golf and traveling.

Gary Wilson and his wife Marsha have been married 35+ years. They have two grown children, Greg and Emily and three grandchildren. Gary is the Buildings & Fleet Manager for Iowa Telecom and also farms the family farm. Gary enjoys working outdoors, airplanes and antiques. He has been at GCC for 26 + years, teaching Sunday School for 20 + years and an elder for 6 years.
