Youth

We love young people at Grinnell Christian Church! We are fortunate to have many young people who are excited about their faith in Jesus Christ and we believe young people aren’t just the church of tomorrow, they in fact are a very important part of today’s church. Our goal is to develop followers of Jesus Christ in our teens! Here’s how we do that!

Bible School
Meets each Sunday morning from 9:15 to 10:15. There are classes for Jr. High girls, Jr. High boys and then a High School class. God’s Word is the focus of this time!

OASIS
This is what we call our time together on Sunday evenings. We hope this time is a great encouragement to our teens. Our focus is on building strong Christian friendships as well as give a spiritual challenge. OASIS meets from 5:30 to 7:00 on Sunday evenings. We do a variety of activities from hayrides, theme nights, various sports, worship evenings and service projects! Once a month we divide into small groups for a family type setting. These groups do various activities as a group also. It’s a blast!

Worship Youth Band
The band meets each Wednesday evening at 6:45 as this team of instrumentalists and vocalists lead worship twice a month. If you like music, come check it out!

Sr. High Girls Bible Study
This bible study in an option for our High School girls and they meet Wednesday nights at 8:00 in the OASIS room. Were excited to have Holly Toney lead this group.

Central Iowa Bible Camp
We go each summer to Central Iowa Bible Camp for a great week of church camp. Our camp is just north of Earlham, Iowa (25 miles west of Des Moines). It's a great way to get away from your busy schedules and spend time working on your relationship with God.

Retreats and Trips
We also offer a lot of retreats and trips that have proven to be a great experience! We go to Bible Colleges (Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Mo., and Nebraska Christian College in Norfolk, Neb.). We offer summer trips for our Sr. Highers. We go to Mexico and build homes and do a VBS for Mexican children. It’s an awesome adventure. We also go to Colorado and do inner city work with a rescue mission in Denver and then camp and whitewater raft. Very Cool trip. Lastly we go to CIY conference in Carbondale, Ill. This is one fantastic week with great speakers and powerful worship. We rotate these trips each year!
